Our students have the opportunity to gain the skills they need to go on to college or directly into the workforce. The New York State Board of Regents adopted a regulation that allows students to graduate with a Career Development and Occupational Studies (CDOS) Commencement Credential.

Global Concepts Locally Approved courses and New York State Approved programs are aligned to the requirements of the CDOS Credential, which are commencement level standards.

Students eligible for the (4+1) CDOS Pathway to a Local or Regents diploma must:

• Earn the appropriate 22 units of diploma credit;
• Pass one Regents exam or NYSED Approved Alternative in each discipline (English Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies)
• Complete all the components of the CDOS Commencement Credential (Option 1 or Option 2).

Option 1:

• Development of a Career Plan
• Demonstrated achievement of the commencement level CDOS Learning Standards
• Successful completion of at least 216 hours of CTE coursework and/or work-based learning experiences; 54 hours of which must be work-based learning experiences.
• At least one employability profile, completed within one year prior to a student's exit from high school.

Option 2:

• Pass all components of an approved CTE program of study, including the technical assessment, or pass one of the NYSED Approved nationally-recognized work readiness assessments.
